Lebanese Mafroukeh
Ingredients
1 cup of Fark el knefeh
¾ cup of Syrup
1 teaspoon of Rose water
1 teaspoon of Orange blossom water
1 teaspoon of Ghee
Ashta
Nuts
Ground pistachios
Orange blossom jam
Preparation
Step 1 : First, heat a pan over medium heat and toast the knefeh dough, stirring constantly to ensure it browns evenly.
Step 2 : When the dough takes on a deep golden color and releases a nutty aroma, reduce the heat.
Step 3 : Next, add the syrup along with rose water, orange blossom water, and ghee, stirring everything until a smooth, homogeneous mixture forms.
Step 4 : Pour the mixture onto a plate and gently press down to form a uniform and compact base.
Step 5 : Allow to cool for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 6 : Then, cover the surface generously with ashta, spreading it well with a spoon or spatula.
Step 7 : For decoration, add toasted nuts, ground pistachios, or, if desired, dried rose petals or orange blossom jam.
Step 8 : Finally, serve at room temperature or slightly chilled, accompanied by Arab coffee or tea for a special touch.
